Interesting article in The Washington Post regarding hecklers at the American Economic Association annual conference in Boston. If might be fun hearing and seeing hecklers at the next national American Society of Civil Engineers national conference. Not 100% sure what they would be heckling about - but having public attention, protest, and debate would be good for the profession.
If people have the passion and inclination to heckle economist - we need to get more of the public engaged with our critical issues (i.e., declining infrastructure, increasing water/sewer rates, traffic congestion, climate change debate/uncertainty, and environmental justice) so we as engineers become a heckled profession. If not, we are just another profession talking about yourselves to our yourselves at the state and national conventions and conferences.
