Our 1% Problems

• One percent of all water on earth is freshwater; 100 percent of people and animals need freshwater to survive.
• One out of every two murder victims in the United States is black.  One out of every eight Americans is black.
• One percent of all Medicaid patients account for 25 percent of all spending by Medicaid, the federal health insurance system for low-income Americans.
• One tenth of 1 percent of the world's population lives in Israel; 25 percent of World stories in The New York Times  last year mentioned Israel.
