Utility Analytics and Asset Management
Report from Black & Veatch - link. The era of engineer as data scientist is upon us. This is an important point they make:
"New technologies enable operators to measure asset and system conditions, status, performance and activity. However, there is still significant opportunity for electric, water and gas utilities to benefit from smarter analytics. Capturing and converting the right data at the right time into actionable intelligence is the essence of analytics.
Utility leaders recognize the value that analytics can provide to their organization. Collectively, respondents ranked asset management programs, and the components and benefits of asset management, as the top areas that would be best served by expanded utility analytics. Analytics and asset management programs go hand-in-glove together. Data, and the analytics derived from the data, enable utilities to develop risk-based plans to proactively manage utility assets."
